I VERONI, Chianti Rufina
I VERONI is a historic winery located in the oldest territory of Chianti; Chianti Rufina. In the Middle Ages the vineyard and farmland of I Veroni formed part of the extensive feudal estates, in the Arno valley, of the Conti Guidi family. At that time the Fattoria was dominated by a watch tower, now in ruins. The present farm buildings are a blend of centuries old structures and contemporary additions. The first stone wine fermentation tank was built in 1809. Parts of this are still visible in the original cellars.
The name I Veroni is derived from the wide terraces surrounding the farm where many years ago tobacco leaf and grain from the Arno valley was dried. Today the farm which lies in the Pontassieve Hills (240-280 meters), spreads over 50 hectares and is close to the church of S.Martino a Quona. The vineyards cover 15 hectares and 20 hectares are planted with olives.

We produce a vast array of elegant wines from Sangiovese grapes. Our wines reflect traditional Tuscan viticulture since we produce IGT wines by uniting select indigenous and international grapes.

ROSSO DI TOSCANA is our Red Tuscan IGT , a soft, fruity blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.
We have a limited production of a fresh White blend “Pianottolo” (Malvasia and Sauvignon blanc)

Chianti Rufina DOCG. This powerful Chianti has a fruity, floral aroma and it’s aged one year in oak barrels of 25 HL.

I VERONI Chianti Rufina RESERVE DOCG is produced with a long fermentation with only selected Sangiovese , this wine is aged in French oak barrels of 500 litres for 16-18 months before being bottled and stored for a further period of 8-10 months.
Then, in pride of place, our signature Vin Santo DOC (dessert wine) pays homage to age old Tuscan winemaking traditions. Only the finest Malvasia Toscana, Trebbiano and Sangiovese grapes are used. These grapes are allowed to ripen on the vine until March After a slow pressing the wine is matured for a minimum of 7 years in small (100 litre) oak and chestnut casks before bottling and storing for a further 12-14 months.
